1. Ginger 

For instant relief, ginger is the best home remedy. It aids in lowering inflammation in the head, thus soothe the pain. It also stimulates digestion and relieves nausea during migraines.

  1. Apply a paste of ginger on your forehead for a few minutes, for instant relief.
  2. You can also juice out an equal amount of ginger and lemon juice and gulp it. Take this for once or twice a day. 

2. Apple

Both apples and apple cider vinegar are used for relieving from a headache.

  1. Take an equal amount of apple cider vinegar and water; boil it and cover the pan. After boiling, remove the lid, cover your face with a towel and inhale the steam. 
  2. Add 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to a glass of water, added with honey and few drops of lemon juice. Drink it twice a day.
  3. If you wake up with a headache, you can just eat an apple sprinkled with salt, and drink warm water after it.

3. Peppermint Oil :

Peppermint oil consists of a refreshing scent, which helps to open the blocked blood vessels which leads to a headache. It contains menthol which aids in regulating blood flow. 

  1. Add a teaspoon of dried peppermint in a cup of hot water. Cover it for 10 minutes. Strain and add some honey.  Sip your tea slowly.
  2. Inhale the scent of peppermint oil.
  3. Make a paste of peppermint leaves and apply it on your forehead. 

4. Heat Up or Cool Down :

  1. You can get rid of a headache by soaking your feet in hot water. Add mustard powder to the water in case of a severe headache.
  2. Take a small napkin, dipped in cold or hot water; place it over your head for 5 minutes. Repeat the process several times.
  3. Apply an ice pack on the back of your neck, it provides relief from migraine pain, because the cold object soothes the inflammation. 

5. Lavender Oil :  

  1. Take a few drops of lavender oil in a hanky, and smell the soothing scent.
  2. Mix three drops of lavender oil with one tablespoon of almond oil or olive oil and massage it on your forehead. 
  3. You can also add 2 drops of lavender oil in a bowl of hot water and inhale the steam. 

Note: Do not take lavender oil orally.


6. Basil

Headaches are caused by tightening muscles, and basil oil act as a muscle relaxant which helps get rid of a headache. 

  1. Add 3 or 4 fresh basil leaves in a cup of hot water and let it sit for 5 minutes, add honey and sip the tea slowly. 
  2. Boil basil leaves in a pot of water, and inhale the steam.
  3. You can chew some fresh basil leaves.

7. Cinnamon 

Cinnamon is a magic spice that treats a headache. Take the cinnamon powder, add some water, and make a paste. Apply it on your forehead.

8. Rosemary essential oil

Take two drops of thyme or rosemary essential oil and apply it on your forehead. 

9. Cloves

Cloves are used to relieve a severe headache due to its cooling properties. 

  1. You can put 2 drops of clove oil in a tablespoon of coconut oil with added sea salt and gently massage it on your forehead.

a) Move your chin upwards and downwards, left and right.

b) Rotate your neck in clockwise and anticlockwise directions.
